Age 2.5-4

We enroll 2.5 year olds for Starlet classes through the end of January. All dancers must be potty trained before their first class!

How to prepare for dance class:

Your dancer will need:

tan buckle tap shoes
pink leather, split sole ballet shoes
lavender leotard
light tan tights
a see through elastic waist ballet skirt (no tutus please)
hair pulled back in a bun
a bag to carry the extra shoes

We sell all of these items in our boutique! We suggest that you purchase these items before the first day of class to ensure your child is prepared.

What to expect:

We will begin the class with tap. Please put tap shoes on your dancer before sending them in. Dancers will enter the classroom on their own. The quicker we make the transition into the room, the better for separation anxiety. The teacher or assistant may hold your dancer's hand or pick them up to help with this transition if necessary. Rest assured that if your dancer leaves you in tears, we will do our best to get them smiling as soon as the door closes. If we are unable to do so, we will bring them to you immediately.

Typically, once we close the door, turn on the music and start having fun, the tears disappear on their own. Please do not enter the classroom at any time. This disrupts all of the students and makes it difficult for the teacher to regain the dancers' focus and maintain authority. If you have a concern, you can alert the front desk and they will address the issue.

You will be able to watch your dancer in the lobby via closed circuit camera. We will remain in the classroom for the entire hour. One half hour will be spent in our tap shoes. Dancers will learn to put on their own ballet shoes in the room and will finish the class with one half hour of ballet. We will do circle time, stand in lines and work on waiting our turn. Dancers will learn to be responsible for their own shoes by placing their tap shoes in their dance bag after putting on their ballet shoes. Our dancers learn many new dance steps each week and will be so excited to show you at home!

Please have your dancer use the restroom before class. If your dancer needs to use the restroom during class, our assistant will bring the dancer to you so that you can help them. For safety reasons, our assistants are not allowed to enter the bathroom with a dancer at any time.

Things to look forward to:

Dancers will have the opportunity to earn a stamp on their hand at the end of class for following directions and participating. They will receive a dance related coloring page as they leave the room.
