St. Augustine Dance Academy is excited to offer an official sponsorship of a Junior and Secondary Chapter in the National Honor Society for Dance Arts!
The National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) is a program dedicated to recognizing dance students in 6th - 12th grade for their outstanding artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement in the field of dance. NHSDA also strives to foster an appreciation for dance as a true art form, worthy of recognition and prestige.
Why join NHSDA?
Joining the NHSDA program will encourage dance students to become involved in opportunities that will expand their knowledge in the dance community. Performances, professional exposure, leadership programs, community service and meritorious academic performance are all important aspects of NHSDA. For dancers who join the secondary program, NHSDA membership is seen as prestigious on college applications.

Who is eligible?

The junior program for NHSDA is for grades 6-8 and the secondary program is for grades 9-12. Dancers must have meritorious academic performance with no D’s or F’s. Along with academics, the dancer should demonstrate exemplary behavior during dance class, rehearsals, and performances. Dancers must participate in studio performances, activities (showcase, competitions, recital, etc.) and community service through dance. Most importantly, they must have passion and dedication for dance arts.
How do I join?
New and returning applicants can apply online at the link below in October each year.
Program Cost & Participation
There is a one-time induction fee of $50 per student due upon acceptance. A student must pay the induction fee at each level of induction (e.g., both for induction into the Junior Program in grade 6 and the Secondary Program in grade 9). The induction fee includes dues, a certificate, an induction pin and a graduation cord/honors medallion (if eligible).

Dancers earn participation points that apply towards their continued membership each following year.
Induction payments are to be made to the studio by December 1st. If there are any questions or concerns, please email katie@staugdance.com.
